Celebration was planned by The Walt Disney Company, and it still looks the part: front porches close to the sidewalk, small front yards, and an architectural pattern book that shapes what homes and landscapes look like. Lawn care here is detail work — tight edges and neat beds matter as much as the cut.

What makes a Celebration yard different?
Celebration was laid out like a traditional small town. Homes sit close to the street, many garages open onto a rear alley, and the front yard is often a strip of turf framed by a walk, a porch and a foundation bed. There is not much open lawn to mow, but there is a lot of edge — and every edge is seen from the sidewalk.
On a regular visit to a Celebration home, the crew:
- mows front, side and back turf at the height your grass needs (3.5–4 inches for standard St. Augustine, 2–2.5 for coarse zoysia)
- edges walks, the driveway, the curb line and the alley apron
- trims around porch posts, fences, utility boxes and bed borders
- blows clippings off porches, walks and the alley, and keeps them out of storm drains, as Osceola County’s ordinance requires
Because the work is mostly trimming, we quote each home on its own layout rather than on lot size. See how a visit works on our lawn mowing page, or read the lawn care in Celebration guide.
Landscapes that have been growing since 1996
The first homes went up in the summer of 1996 in Celebration Village, West Village and around Lake Evalyn. North, South and East Village, Aquila Reserve and Artisan Park followed. In the older villages, foundation shrubs, street-side trees and palms have had decades to grow, and a landscape that age tends to show the same signs: shrubs climbing past the windowsills, beds that have lost their edge, and shade from bigger trees thinning the turf beneath them.
A renewal usually goes in steps rather than all at once:
- cut overgrown shrubs back in stages so they leaf out again instead of turning into bare sticks (bush and shrub trimming)
- re-cut bed edges and top up mulch to 2–3 inches, kept about a foot away from tree trunks, as UF/IFAS recommends
- replace plants that no longer fit the space, after association review when the change is visible from the street
- thin palms and trees that hang over roofs, porches and the alley (palm trimming in Celebration)
Which days can you water in Celebration?
Celebration is in Osceola County, under the South Florida Water Management District. Its year-round rule allows two watering days a week: odd-numbered addresses on Wednesday and/or Saturday, even-numbered or unnumbered addresses on Thursday and/or Sunday, and never between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. When we checked on October 7, 2026, the district listed no water-shortage order for Osceola County.
New landscaping gets extra time. For the first 30 days after planting, the district allows watering on any day except Friday; from day 31 to day 90, on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. If we install sod or new beds at your home, we tell you which of those days apply so the new plants root without breaking the rule. Our irrigation and sprinkler service can set the controller for you.
Fertilizer near lakes and ponds
Many Celebration homes back onto Lake Evalyn or another lake, pond or wetland, and that is where Osceola County’s fertilizer ordinance (2015-05) matters most. The county has no summer blackout, but it prohibits fertilizer during tropical storm and hurricane watches and warnings, and it asks for a setback from the water: at least 3 feet when the spreader has a deflector shield, with 10 feet recommended without one.
Within those rules, UF/IFAS timing for Central Florida is a first application in early April and a last one in early October, with no more than 1 pound of nitrogen per 1,000 square feet each time. Our lawn fertilization page explains the program, and the Florida lawn calendar shows the year at a glance.
Making changes the town will approve
Celebration homes follow an architectural pattern book, and changes to front-yard landscaping usually go through association review. Florida law (s. 373.185, Florida Statutes) says a deed restriction may not prohibit an owner from putting in Florida-friendly landscaping, but your association can still ask to see the plan. A simple drawing with plant names, sizes and locations answers most review questions. Our landscape design and installation team prepares one before any digging starts, and the landscaping in Celebration guide covers the details.
What lawns deal with here
Lots of edge, little lawn
Front yards are compact, so clean edging along walks, porches and alleys does most of the visual work.
Thirty-year-old landscapes
In the first villages, shrubs, street trees and palms have grown for decades. Renewal pruning and fresh beds matter more than new turf.
Water next door
Homes on lakes and ponds need fertilizer setbacks, and nothing should be applied during a storm watch or warning.
Watering rules here
South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD)
Year-round rule: odd addresses water Wednesday and/or Saturday, even addresses Thursday and/or Sunday, never between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Fertilizer rules
Osceola County’s fertilizer ordinance (2015-05) has no summer ban, but prohibits fertilizing during tropical storm and hurricane watches or warnings and requires setbacks from lakes and wetlands.

Questions from Celebration homeowners
How often do new plants need water?
More than established plants, and the water district allows extra days for new landscaping. In Osceola (SFWMD), days 1–30 allow any day except Friday and days 31–90 Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. We leave a watering schedule that fits your address.
Do fertilizer rules differ between Osceola, Polk and Lake?
Yes. Osceola and Polk have no summer ban but restrict fertilizer near water and during storm watches, and Polk also during heavy rain. Unincorporated Lake County bans nitrogen and phosphorus June 1–September 30. The city of Clermont’s own rule is still being confirmed.
Do you mow and edge the alley side of Celebration homes?
Yes. When a home has a rear alley, the turf, edges and the apron by the garage are part of the visit, and we blow the alley clean before we leave. Tell us if part of that strip belongs to the community so we leave it to their contractor.
Do I need association approval to change my front landscaping in Celebration?
Usually, yes, for changes seen from the street. Florida law stops a deed restriction from banning Florida-friendly landscaping, but the association can still review the plan. We prepare a plan and plant list for your submittal and start once it is approved.
Which days can I water my lawn in Celebration?
Under the South Florida Water Management District’s year-round rule, odd addresses water Wednesday and/or Saturday and even addresses Thursday and/or Sunday, never from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. New plantings get extra days for 90 days. Check the district page for any new order.
My shrubs are taller than the windows. Can they be saved?
Often, yes. Many shrubs can be cut back in stages over a season so they fill in lower down. Some have simply outgrown the spot, and replacing them is easier. We look at each plant and tell you which is which before we cut.
