Overview
The problem
Grass here can grow fast enough in summer that a missed week turns into a scalped, patchy lawn once it finally gets cut.
What you get
An even, healthy cut every visit, clean edges along drives and walks, and no clippings left on the pavement.

What does a lawn mowing visit include?
Every visit is the same routine, done the same way: we mow at the height set for your grass, edge the driveway, walks and curbs, string-trim around beds, fences, trees and pool cages, and blow clippings off every hard surface. Clippings stay on the lawn itself. UF/IFAS recommends leaving them, because they return nutrients to the soil and don’t cause thatch.
How high should St. Augustine, Bahia and Zoysia be cut?
Height is where most mowing goes wrong. UF/IFAS recommends:
- Standard St. Augustine (Floratam and similar): 3.5–4 inches
- Dwarf St. Augustine (Captiva, Delmar, Seville): about 2.5 inches
- Bahia: 3–4 inches
- Coarse Zoysia: 2–2.5 inches
A taller cut shades the soil, holds moisture through the dry spring and crowds out weeds. A scalped lawn dries out fast and is where chinch bugs tend to start. We set the deck height on the first visit and keep it there.
Weekly or every other week?
UF/IFAS’s one-third rule says never remove more than a third of the blade in one cut. From about April through October, Central Florida grass grows fast enough that weekly mowing is the only way to keep to that rule. In the cooler months many lawns do fine every other week. Bahia seed heads shoot up quickly in summer, so Bahia lawns look untidy fast on a biweekly schedule.
Do you mow on a fixed day?
Yes. You get a set day, so you know when to leave the gate unlocked and keep the dog inside. If weather pushes a visit, we tell you. For rentals and HOA properties we can set the day around check-ins or community rules.
Clean edges, sharp blades
Dull blades shred grass tips, which turn brown and invite disease. UF/IFAS recommends sharpening often enough that blades cut instead of tear, and that’s our standard. Edging is done every visit, not every other.
Where do we mow?
We mow in Celebration, Davenport, ChampionsGate, Four Corners and Clermont. If mowing is all you need, it’s all we do. If you want the full routine, see lawn maintenance, and pair it with shrub trimming to keep beds in shape.

Common questions
Questions about lawn mowing
What changes the price of lawn service?
Mainly the square footage of turf, how easy the yard is to reach (gates, slopes, fenced pools) and how often we visit. Extra services like trimming, cleanups or fertilization are priced on their own.
How short should my lawn be cut?
UF/IFAS recommends 3.5–4 inches for standard St. Augustine, 3–4 inches for Bahia and 2–2.5 inches for coarse Zoysia, removing no more than a third of the blade at a time.
How much does lawn mowing cost in Davenport?
It depends on the square footage of turf, slopes, gates and fenced pools, and how often we visit. A lot in a gated Davenport community and a half-acre on a county road are not the same job, so we quote each address. Call (407) 577-6400 or use the free quote tool.
Is a one-time cut priced differently from regular service?
Usually, yes. A recurring visit keeps the grass at the right height, so each cut is quick. A first cut on tall grass takes more time and may need a cleanup, so it is quoted on its own.
How often should St. Augustine grass be mowed in summer?
Usually weekly in the rainy season. UF/IFAS says to remove no more than one third of the blade per mowing, and in June–September St. Augustine grows fast enough that a longer gap breaks that rule and stresses the lawn.
What happens to my service during the rainy season?
Central Florida’s rainy season runs roughly June to September, with storms most afternoons. We plan visits earlier in the day when we can. If a storm or a soaked lawn stops a visit, we move it to the next available day and tell you.
Why does my grass look dull and slow in winter?
Warm-season grasses like St. Augustine, Bahia and Zoysia slow down in cool weather, and a light frost can turn the tips brown. They green up again in spring. Winter visits are less frequent for that reason.
How do I know if I have St. Augustine, Bahia or Zoysia?
St. Augustine has wide, blunt blades and thick runners. Bahia is coarser, with Y-shaped seed stalks. Zoysia is fine and dense. Each is cut at a different height, so we identify it on the first visit instead of guessing.
Do you bag the clippings?
On regular mowing we leave the clippings on the lawn, as UF/IFAS recommends, and blow them off driveways, sidewalks and the street so they don’t reach storm drains. Cleanups and heavy cuts are different: the debris is hauled away.
Do you bag the grass clippings?
We blow clippings off driveways, walks and the street, but leave them on the lawn. UF/IFAS recommends this: clippings break down quickly and feed the soil. If you need them bagged for a special reason, ask when you get your quote.
Can I get every-other-week mowing in summer?
You can, but in the rainy season two weeks of growth usually means cutting off more than a third of the blade, which stresses the lawn and leaves clumps. We recommend weekly from spring through fall and every other week in the cool months.
Do I need to be home when you mow?
No. We just need access to the back yard on your day, pets inside, and toys or hoses off the lawn.
Can you keep my lawn within HOA standards?
Regular mowing and edging is the core of most HOA lawn rules. Tell us about any notice you’ve received and we’ll set the schedule so the yard stays within those standards.
How much does lawn mowing cost?
It depends on the square footage of grass, access (gates, slopes, fenced pools) and how often we come. We confirm those and give you a per-visit price before the first cut. Call (407) 577-6400 or request a free quote.
How short can I cut St. Augustine grass?
UF/IFAS says 3.5 to 4 inches for standard varieties and 2.5 inches for dwarf types. Cutting lower weakens the grass and invites pests such as chinch bugs.
Can I mow every two weeks in summer?
Rarely. In the summer rains most lawns grow more than a third of their height in two weeks, so one cut removes too much. Every other week fits late fall to early spring.
Should I mow wet grass?
Avoid it when you can. Wet blades clump, cut unevenly and clog the mower. We skip lightning and waterlogged lawns and move the visit to the next available day.
Do mowing visits change in winter?
Yes. Growth slows in the cooler months, so many lawns can move to every other week from late fall to early spring. Your quote shows how the schedule changes by season.
Why don’t you list lawn mowing prices online?
Lot size, slopes, gates and visit frequency change the job too much for one number. We quote each address and put the price in writing before work starts.
Does weekly mowing cost more than every other week?
You pay for more visits, but each cut is faster because the grass stays near its ideal height. In summer, weekly is what most lawns need anyway.
Is the online estimate my final price?
No. The tool gives an estimate. We confirm the lawn size and condition and give you a final price before any work starts.
Will my HOA rules change the price?
They can. Extra edging, bed upkeep or fixed visit days add work. Send us your community guidelines with your quote request so the scope matches them.
How often should a vacation rental lawn be mowed?
Weekly in the summer rains, on a fixed day before most arrivals. Many lawns can move to every other week from late fall to early spring.
Can you avoid working while guests are at the house?
We plan noisy jobs such as hedge trimming and pressure washing for vacant days. Tell us your check-in pattern, and text us when a booking changes.
Who checks the sprinklers in an empty rental?
Someone should every month. We look at the zones that run on visit days and flag broken heads, overspray and schedules that break the watering order.
Can one company do the yard and the house cleaning?
Yes. We do lawn care, palms, pressure washing and house cleaning, so a rental can have one schedule and one invoice.
