What is complete tree and palm removal?

Complete tree and palm removal is for clearing an area, not just taking out one tree. It brings several trees and palms down in one project, deals with the stumps and roots, removes the debris, and leaves the ground roughly graded and ready for what comes next: new sod, a garden bed, a patio or construction.

When does it make sense?

  • Before a project. Pools, room additions, driveways and fences often need a clear area first.
  • Overgrown lots. Yards where volunteer trees, old palms and brush have taken over.
  • After storm damage. When several trees in one area were damaged and the rest of the group no longer makes sense.
  • A fresh start. Replacing a crowded mix of trees and palms with a planned landscape design.

What does the work include?

  • takedown of the trees and palms in the area, in sections where space is tight,
  • stump grinding and root removal where the next phase needs clear ground,
  • removal of wood, fronds and debris,
  • rough grading so the area drains and is ready for new sod, beds or the next contractor.

Whether anything stays matters as much as what goes: a healthy specimen tree or palm can often be kept and worked around. We go over that with you on site.

Before any clearing starts

Permits and HOA

Clearing several trees is the kind of job most likely to need a permit or HOA approval. Rules vary between Osceola, Polk and Lake counties and the cities inside them. Florida law (s. 163.045, F.S.) exempts documented risk trees on single-family residential lots from local permits, but that doesn’t cover trees removed for a project or HOA rules. Check with your city or county first; we can help you find out what applies.

Utilities

Stump grinding and root removal are excavation, so Florida law requires notice to Sunshine 811 at least two full business days before the work. Irrigation lines in the area are located and capped or rerouted as needed.

After the clearing

Bare sandy soil washes in the first summer storm. Plan the next step, whether sod, mulch, beds or a slab, close behind the clearing. Our lawn care and landscaping crews can pick up right where the removal ends. We do complete removals in Davenport, Four Corners, Clermont, Celebration and ChampionsGate. For single trees, see tree removal or palm removal.

Common questions

Questions about complete tree & palm removal

What decides the price of a tree or palm removal?

Height and trunk size, what is under and around the tree (roof, screen cage, pool, power lines), how close we can get a truck, and whether you want the stump ground. Send photos with your quote request and we can narrow it down before the visit.

Can you grind the stump after a removal?

Yes, stump grinding can be added to the quote. Before grinding or digging, Sunshine 811 has the underground lines marked, which takes at least two full business days, so plan for that gap.

How is complete removal different from tree removal?

Tree removal takes out one tree. Complete removal clears an area: several trees and palms, stumps and roots, debris and rough grading, so the ground is ready for the next project.

Will I need a permit to clear several trees?

Possibly. Clearing for a project is the kind of work local rules and HOAs most often regulate. Check with your city or county and your HOA before work starts; we can help you find out.

Can you sod or plant the area afterward?

Yes. Our lawn care and landscaping crews can sod, plant or mulch the cleared area so it doesn’t sit as bare sand through the rainy season.

How is a clearing project priced?

By the number and size of trees and palms, stumps and roots to remove, access for equipment, debris volume and the grading needed. You get a written price after we walk the area.
