Overview

Good landscaping here is mostly about what survives August. We favor plants that handle full sun and heavy rain, beds that drain, and borders that keep mulch and rock where they belong.

Many neighborhoods in our area have HOA design rules. If yours does, we help you put together what the committee usually asks for — a simple plan and a plant list — before anything goes in the ground.

What landscaping services do we offer?

Our landscaping work covers landscape design and installation, mulch installation, decorative rock and stone, plants and shrubs and pavers and hardscaping. Some customers want one bed refreshed before a family visit; others want the whole front yard redone. Both start the same way: we look at the sun, the soil, the drainage and the rules your property lives under.

What makes Central Florida landscaping different?

Sandy soil and heavy rain

Most yards here sit on sandy soil that drains fast and holds few nutrients, then get hammered by afternoon storms from June through September. Beds need edging that keeps mulch and rock in place when water runs across them, and plants that tolerate both the wet summer and the dry spring.

Full sun and heat

A south- or west-facing bed against a light stucco wall is one of the hottest places in the yard. Plants that do well in a shaded courtyard can scorch there. "Right plant, right place" is the first of UF/IFAS’s nine Florida-Friendly Landscaping principles, and it saves more money than any product.

Water rules

New plantings need extra water to establish, and each water management district allows it on its own schedule: South Florida (Osceola), Southwest Florida (Polk) and St. Johns River (Lake). We plan installs so new plants can get that water legally, and set the irrigation back to normal once they’re established.

How do HOAs fit in?

Many communities in Celebration, ChampionsGate and around Four Corners have architectural review rules for front-yard changes. Florida law (s. 373.185, F.S.) says a deed restriction or covenant may not prohibit an owner from implementing Florida-friendly landscaping, but HOAs can still review the plan. We help you put together what the committee usually asks for: a simple layout and a plant list.

Mulch, rock or both?

Organic mulch feeds the soil, holds moisture and keeps roots cooler; UF/IFAS recommends 2–3 inches around established plants and keeping it about a foot away from tree trunks. Rock lasts longer and suits some modern designs and drip lines, but UF/IFAS notes it doesn’t control weeds or moderate soil temperature the way organic mulch does. Many yards use both: mulch in planted beds, rock in narrow strips, side yards and around downspouts.

Before anyone digs

New beds, plant pits, edging and paver bases all mean digging. Florida law requires excavators to notify Sunshine 811 at least two full business days before excavation so buried utilities are marked. Irrigation lines are the other thing hidden under most beds; we mark and protect them.

Where we do landscaping

We design and install landscapes in Celebration, ChampionsGate, Davenport, Four Corners and Clermont. Once the beds are in, our lawn care crews can keep them that way.

Common questions

Questions about landscaping

Can my HOA stop me from using Florida-friendly landscaping?

Florida law (s. 373.185(3)(b), F.S.) says a deed restriction or covenant may not prohibit an owner from implementing Florida-friendly landscaping. Your HOA can still review the design, so submit the plan before installing.

When is the best time to plant in Central Florida?

We plant throughout the year. What matters most is getting them water while they establish: plantings before the rainy season need careful watering through the dry spring, and every water district has its own establishment schedule.

Do you take small landscaping jobs?

Yes. A single bed refresh, a few replacement shrubs or fresh mulch is fine. Call (407) 577-6400 or send photos through the quote form.

Can you maintain the beds after installation?

Yes. Bed weeding, shrub trimming and mulch refreshes can go on the same schedule as your lawn care, or into a property care plan.
