Landscaping in Celebration, FL
Galapagos designs and installs landscaping for Celebration homes that fits the town’s design guidelines: compact foundation beds, plants sized for porches, and clean edges against the walk. We prepare the plan and plant list your association review needs, then install once it is approved — in English or Spanish.
Small beds, big impact
With porches close to the walk, foundation beds are the frame of the house. We favor compact, sun-tolerant plants that won’t outgrow a porch rail in two summers, edged so mulch stays off the sidewalk. In the older villages, many projects start by taking out shrubs that have outgrown their spot rather than adding more.
Plans the committee can read
In Celebration, a landscape change on the street side usually goes through association review first. A simple drawing with plant names, sizes and locations answers most review questions. We put that together before any digging starts, so approval doesn’t stall the project.
Florida law (s. 373.185, Florida Statutes) says a deed restriction may not prohibit Florida-friendly landscaping. That gives you room to choose drought-tolerant plants, but the association can still review how the plan looks.
Two watering days, new plants
New plantings get extra watering days from the South Florida district: any day except Friday for the first 30 days, then Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday through day 90. We leave you that schedule with the job, and set zones so new beds don’t drown the established lawn next to them.
What a Celebration landscape project includes
- a site visit to measure beds, check sun and shade and note what stays
- a plan and plant list for association review
- removal of old plants, roots and worn-out fabric
- soil preparation, planting and edging along walks and porches
- 2–3 inches of mulch, kept about a foot from trunks
- a walk-through and watering instructions for the first 90 days
How the project runs
- Visit and measure.
- Plan, plant list and written quote.
- You submit the plan (or we help you fill in the form) and wait for approval.
- Install, usually in one or two days for a front yard, and clean the walk and street before we leave.
- Before any digging deeper than hand planting, the utility locate is requested through Sunshine 811.
What affects the price
- the size of the beds and how much has to come out first
- plant sizes (a 3-gallon shrub costs less than a 15-gallon one and fills in later)
- rock, edging or paver borders
- irrigation changes for new beds
- access through alleys and side gates

Questions about landscaping
Will you submit my plan to the Celebration association?
The owner usually has to submit it, but we prepare the drawing and plant list and help you fill in the form. We start digging only after approval.
Can my association stop me from planting drought-tolerant plants?
Florida law says a deed restriction may not prohibit Florida-friendly landscaping. The association can still review the design, so we plan beds that are water-wise and fit the street.
How long does a front-yard project take?
The install itself is usually one or two days for a Celebration front yard. Most of the calendar time goes to the association review, which we cannot speed up, so we plan the start date after approval.
Do you remove the old shrubs too?
Yes. Removal of old plants, roots and worn landscape fabric is part of the quote, and we haul it away.
