Lawn care in Celebration, FL

Galapagos mows, edges and cares for Celebration lawns on a fixed weekly or every-other-week day, planned for the town’s small front yards, porches and rear alleys. Crews cut at the height your grass needs, trim tight along every walk and leave porches and alleys clean, so the house looks the way it was designed.

Built around the pattern book

Homes here follow an architectural pattern book, and yards are part of that look. Front lawns are small and sit right against the sidewalk, so neighbors and walkers see every edge. Our crews keep beds crisp and turf lines straight so the house reads the way it was designed — from Celebration Village to Artisan Park.

That also means most of the time on a Celebration lawn goes into trimming, edging and blowing, not mowing.

Mowing around a two-day watering schedule

Celebration falls under the South Florida Water Management District’s year-round rule: odd addresses water Wednesday and/or Saturday, even addresses Thursday and/or Sunday, never between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. We set your mowing day around those days so the crew isn’t cutting turf that is still soaked, which tears blades and leaves ruts in small yards.

Lawns under mature trees

In the villages built first, street trees and backyard oaks have had decades to spread, and grass under a dense canopy grows thin. Mowing at the top of your grass’s range helps — UF/IFAS puts standard St. Augustine at 3.5–4 inches — but under heavy shade a mulched bed is often the better answer than fighting for turf. We will tell you which spots are worth reseeding with sod and which are not.

What a Celebration visit includes

  • mowing front, side and back turf, never removing more than a third of the blade at once
  • edging walks, the driveway, curb line and alley apron
  • string-trimming around porch posts, fences, mailboxes and utility boxes
  • clippings left on the lawn to feed it, and blown off porches, walks, the alley and away from storm drains
  • a note or photo when we see something that needs you: a broken sprinkler head, chinch-bug patches, a branch on the roof

How we start

  • You send your address and, if you like, a few photos.
  • We confirm your grass type, your watering days and where your lot ends — some alley strips and common areas belong to the community, not to you.
  • We pick a fixed day and a frequency: weekly in the growing season is typical for St. Augustine, every other week in the cooler months.
  • You get a written quote before the first visit.

What affects the price

  • how much edge there is: walks, alley apron, porch and bed borders
  • side-yard gates and fenced backyards that need hand-moving
  • how often we come
  • extras such as bed weeding, hedge trimming or a fertilizer program

We quote each home on its layout, not just the lot size.

Questions about lawn care

How often should a Celebration lawn be mowed?

Often enough that no cut takes more than a third of the blade, as UF/IFAS advises. For St. Augustine in the rainy season that usually means weekly; in the cooler months, every other week is often enough.

Do you bag the clippings?

No, unless you ask. UF/IFAS recommends leaving clippings on the lawn because they return nutrients. We blow them off porches, walks and the alley and keep them out of storm drains.

Do I need to be home for the visit?

No. If the backyard is behind a locked gate, leave us a code or a key arrangement and we close it behind us. Many Celebration owners never see the crew; they see the yard.

Why is the grass thin under my oak tree?

Most lawn grasses need several hours of sun, and a mature canopy blocks it. Raising the mowing height helps a little; in deep shade, a mulched bed or shade-tolerant plants usually look better than struggling turf.
