Overview

The problem

When do you need a yard cleanup?

A yard cleanup is a one-time job that brings a property back to a point where regular care can take over. It is the right call when:

  • the yard was left alone for a season and the grass, beds and shrubs have run together,
  • you just bought a house, or are getting one ready to list or rent,
  • a vacation rental needs to look right before the next guests,
  • or a storm brought down limbs, palm fronds and debris.

What does a yard cleanup include?

We cut back overgrown grass and beds, pull weeds and redefine bed edges, trim back shrubs crowding the house and walks, pick up fallen limbs, fronds and leaves, and blow every hard surface clean. Yard waste is hauled away. When the yard is back in shape, we can quote regular mowing or lawn maintenance so it stays that way.

Storm and hurricane cleanup

The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, and NOAA puts most of the activity between mid-August and mid-October. After a storm we clear branches, fronds and yard debris from the lawn, beds and drive. Large limbs or trees that are down, hanging or leaning are a different job: they need tree removal or tree trimming done with the right equipment. Stay clear of anything touching a power line and call the utility first.

What should happen to yard debris?

Grass clippings and yard waste belong out of the street and storm drains. Osceola County’s fertilizer ordinance requires clippings and yard waste to be kept out of the storm drain system, and Polk County’s says clippings must never be swept, washed or blown onto pavement, drains or water. A proper cleanup leaves the curb and gutter clean too.

Getting a property ready to sell or rent

Curb appeal is the first photo. For realtors, investors and owners getting a house ready, a cleanup is often paired with fresh mulch, shrub trimming and pressure washing of the drive and walks, so the whole front is done in one trip.

Common questions

Questions about yard cleanup

Is a one-time cut priced differently from regular service?

Usually, yes. A recurring visit keeps the grass at the right height, so each cut is quick. A first cut on tall grass takes more time and may need a cleanup, so it is quoted on its own.

Can you clear my yard after a storm?

Yes, for fallen limbs, palm fronds and yard debris. Trees or limbs touching power lines are left to the utility. Call (407) 577-6400 with a photo of the damage and we schedule you as soon as the roads and the crew allow.

Do you bag the clippings?

On regular mowing we leave the clippings on the lawn, as UF/IFAS recommends, and blow them off driveways, sidewalks and the street so they don’t reach storm drains. Cleanups and heavy cuts are different: the debris is hauled away.

Do you clean up after hurricanes?

Yes, for limbs, fronds and yard debris. Fallen or hanging trees are quoted as tree work. Anything touching a power line is for the utility company first.

How long does a yard cleanup take?

Most residential cleanups are done in a day. Very overgrown or large properties can take longer; your quote will say.

Can you quote a cleanup from photos?

Photos help us give you a faster estimate. If the photos don’t show everything, we confirm in person before work starts.

Do I have to sign up for regular service after a cleanup?

No. A cleanup is a one-time job. You can add regular mowing or maintenance afterward so the yard doesn’t slide back.

What should I do first after an HOA lawn violation letter?

Find the item, the rule and the deadline in the letter. Fix the cited items first, take dated photos from the street and reply in writing before the deadline.

Can you fix an HOA violation quickly?

Most lawn items fit in one cleanup visit: mowing, beds, shrubs, mulch and palms. Send a photo of the letter and the date, and we schedule around the deadline.

Can my HOA ban Florida-friendly landscaping?

No. Section 373.185, F.S., says a covenant may not prohibit it. Your HOA may still require approval of the plan before you change the yard.

What if I need more time than the letter gives?

Ask in writing before the deadline and explain the plan, for example new sod that needs time to root. Keep a copy of the request and the answer.
