Palm tree trimming in Davenport, FL

Galapagos trims palms at Davenport homes and vacation rentals, timed around your bookings: brown fronds, fruit and seed pods come off, the green crown stays, and the pool deck and cage are blown clean before the next guest arrives. Owners who are away get photos when the work is done.

Pool decks and seed pods

Pool decks and lanais are part of most Davenport rentals, and palms next to them drop fronds, fruit and seed pods right where guests swim. Fruit stains pavers and clogs skimmers; a dead frond on a screen panel can tear it in a storm. Regular trimming keeps the deck clean and the palms healthy.

Timed around bookings

Tell us your turnover days and we schedule trimming when the house is empty, then blow off the deck and cage. If a booking changes, text us and we move the visit.

Yellow fronds aren’t always dead

Yellowing lower fronds usually point to a potassium shortage, according to UF/IFAS. We leave them on and tell you, because cutting them makes the deficiency worse. Palms on sandy, fast-draining soil — common in Polk County — are prone to it.

A storm-season plan for rental palms

Before June 1, book a cleanup: brown fronds, fruit and seed pods off, so nothing loose sits over the cage or the deck. During the season, a quick check after a named storm passes keeps the property guest-ready: - fallen fronds cleared from the deck, drive and pool - photos of the palms and of any torn screen panels, sent to you the same day - a note if a palm has lost its crown or leans, with a palm removal quote if it cannot be saved

What palm trimming includes

  • fully brown fronds removed
  • flower and fruit stalks and seed pods removed before they drop
  • pool deck, cage roof (from outside) and drive blown clean
  • all debris hauled away
  • a note and photo if a palm shows disease, damage or deficiency

How we work

  • Ladders or lifts only; no climbing spikes, which leave wounds that never heal.
  • No cuts into the trunk.
  • Green fronds stay on — no "hurricane cuts", which UF/IFAS found made palms more likely to lose their crowns.
  • Before hurricane season (June 1 to November 30), a cleanup of dead fronds and fruit is worth booking.

What affects the price

  • number, height and species of palms
  • palms inside or over the pool cage
  • fruit load (some species drop a lot)
  • access through gates and HOA vendor rules
  • how often you book

Questions about palm tree trimming

Can you trim palms while guests are staying?

We prefer an empty house, for safety around the pool. Send us your turnover days and we schedule between stays.

How often do palms by the pool need trimming?

It depends on the species and how much fruit it drops. A common plan is a cleanup before hurricane season and another when stalks appear; we suggest a schedule after the first visit.

Do you clean the pool cage roof after trimming?

We blow fronds and fruit off the deck and clear what fell on the screen from outside. A full screen-enclosure wash is a separate pressure-washing job.

Should I cut my palms short before a storm?

No. UF/IFAS found that palms with only a few fronds left were more likely to lose their crowns in the 2004–05 hurricanes. Removing dead fronds and fruit is the right prep.
